Taller Clavelli
Carlos Clavelli is a Uruguayan artisan. Since 1983 he has dedicated himself exclusively to the creation, design and production of wooden sculptural objects.
Rocío García, is a Museology technician, studied Anthropology and is a researcher in Traditional Crafts.
Together they form a small-scale family workshop where they personally produce their creations.
Two lines of work can be observed in his proposal. The series Traditional Sceenes, wood carvings, fretwork, assembled, polychrome, in which different aspects of Uruguayan culture are represented, characters, stereotypes, scenes of contemporary or historical moments that identify it.
Another line is the series Rural Landscapes, in which other materials, wool, leather, felt, used with their natural colors, are integrated with wood. This generates a series of traditional animals of local production, which identify the Uruguayan rural culture and landscape.
The work of Taller Clavelli is part of the so-called contemporary urban craftsmanship, characterized by the existence of small workshops, with emphasis on design quality and innovation.
